About Carly Bedwell, Maternity, Newborn & Family Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire Photographer.

My journey has been shaped by love, loss, laughter, and a lifelong passion for photography. It’s this mix of heart and experience that inspires the way I capture your memories.

A SMALL CHAPTER OF MY STORY

When I left school at 16, I went straight to college to study A-Level photography. I learnt about film cameras, spent hours in the darkroom, and fell in love with the work of the great photographers before me. Photography has been part of every job I’ve ever had. But my love for the craft existed long before that.

I lost my mum when I was very young, and I cherish every photo I have of her. Those photos are among my most treasured possessions, and they’re a large part of the reason I do what I do. I pour my heart into capturing life for other families because I know how much savouring these moments matters, and how loved they’ll be five, ten, twenty years into the future.

From peaceful woodland walks to wildflower meadows, rolling hills, or the comfort of your own home, I love capturing family life in the places that mean the most to you. Whether it’s maternity, newborn, or family photography.

STORY THAT GUIDES STYLE

I grew up with film cameras; when each click of the shutter was the difference between a good or bad image, and you had no choice but to wait for your photographs to develop. Growing up with this slower, hands-on, and deeply intentional process shapes how my photography sessions go today. My approach is gentle, natural, and unhurried. I see it as a reason to pause in the middle of busy family life and take a break from the rush of reality to really be together.

Living with alopecia has also been a part of my journey; it’s a core element of who I am, and it has taught me a lot about confidence, softness, and showing up fully as myself. I take those experiences into every session with me to make sure that the space I create in my sessions is one where you and your family feel safe in your own skin. I want our time together to feel like a safe space where you can simply be yourself without pressure or judgment.
